OnlyFans Scams For Creators: Everything You Need to Know

February 25, 2026

In recent years, scams have become more and more sophisticated and spotting them has become increasingly difficult. Unfortunately, OnlyFans creators in particular are incredibly susceptible to scams due to the value of their content, the platform’s competitive nature, and the anonymity of fan interactions.

While we don’t want the fear of scams to put you off using the platform, as a creator, it’s crucial to stay vigilant. You need to know what kinds of OnlyFans scams are out there, what you can do to prevent them, and how to report scammers to stop them targeting anyone else. So, to maintain safety online, here is everything you need to know about OnlyFans scams.

Common Types of OnlyFans Scams

There are an endless number of scams out there, but here are the most common ones to watch out for.

Fake Fans (Chargeback Scams)

Usually, a fan asking for custom content is a good thing. However, there are times when a ‘fan’ will subscribe, often with a stolen card, demand custom content, then initiate a chargeback (disputing the transaction with the bank or card issuer to reverse the transaction). Essentially, they get your content free of charge.

Account Theft

Scammers may impersonate OnlyFans support, contacting you via email or through direct message, in an attempt to steal your log in credentials. If you do share this information, they can gain control of your account and withdraw your earnings.

Stolen Content

Stolen content is arguably the most common type of scam and we see it all the time. A subscriber will purchase your content with the intention of reselling or leaking it on other platforms such as Reddit or X. Since almost anyone can do this, it’s incredibly common.

Tipping Scams

OnlyFans does put certain protections in place. To bypass these, some scammers will promise to tip a significant amount as long as you move to a different platform (Snapchat for example) to communicate. Another tipping scam to be aware of is people sending a fake payment notification. So, only send content if you’re sure it’s legit or only once a payment has been made.

Agency Scams

OnlyFans agencies can be incredibly beneficial to OnlyFans models. However, not all agencies out there have your best interests at heart, and some are simply there to take your money (not us of course). They may pressure you into signing unfair contracts, under deliver on promises, or even ghost you once you’ve made a significant upfront payment.

How to Spot an OnlyFans Scam

Some scams are fairly obvious, while others require a little more investigative work. Here are some common red flags to watch out for that indicate you’re dealing with an OnlyFans scam:

  • Dodgy usernames - scammers often use bot-generated usernames that are either incredibly generic or filled with spelling/grammar mistakes
  • Being overly demanding - it’s not uncommon for a fan to be a little eager, but if you feel they’re really pushing you to take action, particularly off-platform, it could be a scam
  • Setting unrealistic expectations - questionable agencies will often overpromise, push you to sign contracts, or ask for large fees upfront

What to Do if You Are Scammed on OnlyFans

The most important thing to do if you are scammed, no matter what scam it is, is to act fast. Responding quickly can help minimise the damage and allow you to regain control of the situation easier.

Here’s what to if you’re targeted by scammers:

For Chargeback Scams:

  • Review transaction details - on your dashboard, go to ‘Statements’ then click ‘Chargebacks’
  • Report the fraud - submit evidence (screenshots, messages, proof of custom content etc.) to OnlyFans support through the ‘Payment Dispute’ option

Unfortunately, it’s common for OnlyFans to side with the cardholder’s bank, so it’s important to recognise the signs to prevent these scams happening in the first place.

For Account Theft:

  • Change your email and password - do this immediately to avoid getting locked out
  • Report the scammer - contact OnlyFans support and submit any evidence you have
  • Notify your audience - let your fans know that your account has been hacked to stop scammers taking money from your subscribers

Once the issue is resolved, it’s a good idea to set up 2FA (two-factor authentication), as this will make it harder for scammers to gain access to your account.

For Stolen Content:

  • Gather evidence - the more screenshots the better (you can find out which websites have your content using a reverse image search on Google)
  • Contact OnlyFans support - report the scam as soon as possible
  • File a DMCA takedown (legal request to remove copyrighted material) with the website hosting your stolen content

For Fake Agencies:

  • Secure your account - change your password and the email address associated with your account to prevent access
  • Collect evidence - correspondences, transactions, contracts, and anything else you have
  • Contact Citizens Advice - you can report a scam online through Citizens Advice. They may pass your information onto Trading Standards, who may contact you for further information. Note that your case isn't guaranteed to be investigated

How to Report Scammers on OnlyFans

If you suspect you’re dealing with a scammer, you can report profiles directly by clicking ‘Report Profile’ (located in the menu accessed by the three dots next to their username) on the suspect's page and explain the reason for the report.

How to Protect Yourself From OnlyFans Scams

Follow these basic rules to avoid getting scammed on OnlyFans:

  • Don’t offer large amounts of custom content to new subscribers
  • Watermark your content to prevent theft
  • Don’t take payments or offer content off-platform
  • Confirm the legitimacy of an agency before signing anything
  • Always check sender domains on emails
  • Never share your log in or banking details with anyone
  • Don’t interact with fans exhibiting suspicious behaviour and report them immediately
